How a simple datapack surpassed my expectations

A few months ago, I was learning how to create Minecraft datapacks. I created and uploaded my first public datapack to Modrinth called "Infinite Night Vision". As the name suggests, the datapack gives infinite night vision to all players in the given world. It was simple to code, so I had no expectations for the datapack at all. I expected it would get 100 or 200 downloads tops.
When I checked a few days later, it has already hit 1000 downloads.
Then 2000.
I was shocked and a bit proud, since it was my first thousands of downloads on Modrinth. To my delight, it then hit 5000 downloads, 10,000 downloads. As I am writing this, it has been downloaded 78,784 times.
Shortly after my night vision mod hit 10,000 downloads, I create a new datapack that makes it if you touch grass, you die. I thought that this datapack would surpass infinite night vision in downloads, but it only has about 400 donwloads to date.
For anyone who wants to upload their projects to Modrinth, I have to say something. The Modrinth community does not care about additions themselves, but how much your project improves the vanilla game. If you upload a project to Modrinth that adds 100 variations of dinosaurs, it would get less downloads then a project that adds a working camera to the game.
Recently I started to get more focused on "Infinite Night Vision". I updated it to support Minecraft versions 26.1.x, and 26.2. My goal is to make it even more compatible so it will surpass 100,000 downloads.
